Rooted in Regeneration
Cultivating Connections with Earth, Community, and Self Reliance
Our Mission
We are dedicated to reawakening within our visitors an understanding of broader community, namely, humankind's relationship with the rest of the natural world and the origins of our food. By offering stays on our regenerative farm and farm-to-table experiences, we celebrate the local agricultural tradition, built on neighborliness and resilience, therefore fostering healthy, holistic lifestyles.
Our Vision
Our vision is a community oasis that exemplifies intentional living and connection, blending eco-friendly practices with a return to communal, nature-centric experiences via farmstays.
Our Story
Orion Farmstead was born from a desire to reconnect people with food, the land, and community. Inspired by books like One-Straw Revolution and Dirt to Soil, founder Alexis Campestre discovered the healing potential of regenerative agriculture and how it could restore degraded landscapes and improve food quality.
Driven by this vision, Alexis trained at the Kiss the Ground Institute and worked on farms across Montana. His experiences cemented his belief in sustainable practices and inspired the creation of Orion Farmstead—a place where guests could engage directly with the land and learn through immersive, hands-on experiences.
In 2024, Alexis partnered with Beau Milton and Ashton Todd to lease 160 acres of degraded land near Ovando, Montana. The land required extensive cleanup, including removing over 20 tons of debris. But the team’s dedication turned a neglected property into a vibrant, educational farm stay.
Today, Orion Farmstead offers guests opportunities to forage, garden, cook farm-to-table meals, and learn about sustainable building and energy practices. Visitors can also enjoy amenities like fly fishing on Monture Creek that flows nearly a mile through the property, a wood-fired hot tub, and a sauna, farm tours, and more!
As Orion Farmstead continues to grow, its mission remains clear: to help people reconnect with food, nature, and community through practical, regenerative living.

Alexis Campestre
Founder | Marketing | Finance | Leadership
My name is Alexis. I arrived in Montana in 2018 to embrace the wild spirit and strong community of the Big Sky state.
Since moving here, I’ve earned a Master’s of Science at the University of Montana, then taught marketing to undergrads. During my time in school, I founded Digital Marketing Missoula, which provides custom marketing solutions for small business with a personalized and local touch.
Each May-October I get my hands dirty by finding a farmer/rancher in need of some help and haul my travel trailer onsite and immerse myself in their unique operation.
As of fall 2024, I am committed to creating an immersive farmstay on leased land in the Blackfoot River valley, just five minutes west of the cute town of Ovando. The name of this new venture is Orion Farmstead. Our goal is to provide short term rentals to folks looking for an experience that combines education, amazing local foods and products, and a portal into a different way of life.

Beau Milton
Founder | Builder | Craftsman | Rancher
Beau is a Montana native raised on a small ranch outside of the no-stop-light town of Joliet. He grew up raising conventional black angus cows, and heritage apples before studying fisheries biology in Colorado and then eventually returning home to start a contracting and pesticide application business servicing western and south-central Montana.
When he’s not busy building or raising farm critters, Beau enjoys chasing trout across the vast Beartooth Wilderness, playing hockey during the cold winter months, and developing his knowledge in regenerative agriculture. He is a recent graduate of the Certified Farm Startup program hosted by CFAC, and of the Beginning Farmers Institute by the National Farmers Union as well as an active member of the Montana Farmers Union.
Beau is looking forward to leveraging his diverse background in environmentalism and agriculture to make a difference in Montana agriculture and land stewardship.

Ashton Todd
Founder | PR | Educator | Writer
Ashton is a Kentuckian by birth and privileged to be a Montanan by choice. She first visited the Last Best Place in 2022, the same year that she graduated from Georgetown College and the University of Oxford with a Bachelors of Arts in English. She’s been hooked on the Big Sky ever since.
Although you’ll frequently find her with her nose in a book or putting pen to paper, Ashton’s real passion is in regenerative agriculture and helping others connect with the rest of the natural world. She is the latest branch in a family tree full of farmers hailing from the Bluegrass. Whether it’s at her family’s commercial greenhouse back home or at Orion Farmstead, Ashton loves to get her hands in the dirt. Her blend of practical agricultural experience and literary studies provide a unique lens for exploring the contemporary agricultural climate.
Ashton is also a holistic health coach certified through American Fitness Professionals and Associates (AFPA). She is excited to lend her skills to Orion Farmstead and to facilitate experiences that will encourage guests to get in touch with nature and their food system in ways that they have not previously encountered.
